Lighting Observation #2

2)LIRR

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was on my way back from the city pretty late at night and the train station had a really cool yellow lighting. It contrasted really well with the metal beams.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Having warmth within a cold environment conveys a sense of comfort in an otherwise harsh environment.

Spring

I decided on this picture because I think that the dry and stale lighting is very springy to me. It looks like I would walk out and sneeze not just because of the flowers.

Wild Card

For my wildcard picture I decided on a picture that I took waiting for Six the musical start.  I love the contrast between the blues and the orange.

Summer

For me summer lighting means one thing and that is the color blue. I chose this image because the lighting is completely saturated. It feels as bright as it could be.

Surreal

For this week’s post I decided to go with a ominous gas station this reminds me of something that you would pass in the middle of nowhere and would make you feel like you’re in a horror movie. I think that the green fluorescent lighting is a great way to feel as if time is almost pause.

Single Source

For this week’s post I decided to go with a sunset lamp which is a really cool way to get a single-source light on something. I actually have one in my dorm. This is an image that I pulled. I really like the rings around the light. It creates a point of focus.

Nightlife

This week’s theme is nightlife. I decided to go with an image of a street after dark with some hearts projected into the sky. It gave me the same feeling as walking home really late on a summer night with my friends.

Four Seasons Virtual Light Lab

  1. A Fall Sunset in Vermont

Fall Sunset in Vermont.jpeg

I used R21 in full to depict the farm deep tones associated with fall.

2.Easter Sunrise in a Gothic Cathedral

Fall Sunset in Vermont.jpeg

I used R15 in different tones to emulate the sunsinning through the church. As well as the window gobo to help with the motif that I am goig for.

3.Noon on a Hot Summer Day

Fall Sunset in Vermont.jpeg

I used R68, R80, R60, and L116 to give off the visual of a blue skyine in summer.

4.Winter Afternoon just before the snow

winter afternoon just before.jpeg

I used L201 and the dots/breakup gobos to look like snow in the winter.

Lighting Observation #12

Date/Time/Location: May 6 at 4:44pm in Tennessee

Objective Description: The light coming in the windows to hit my dogs’ fur

Subjective Description: The light coming in the windows doesn’t really have much color to it. It’s pretty bright, but any color from the sun is taken away by the amount of clouds covering the sky from the storm earlier in the day. Regardless of the lack of color, the way it reflects off of my dogs’ fur is interesting. Jessie is a reddish-blondish color, but the light takes the red out of her fur and makes her seem a little more dull. Calvin is a very light blondish color, so the light reflecting off of him makes him look even brighter than he is normally. Jessie becomes more a part of the surroundings, while Calvin seems very removed from it
