  2. Theme – Advertisment
  3. When we were told that advertisement/desire was the theme for this project, I struggled for a bit to find an advertisement that really spoke to me. I really wanted to find one that used its lighting as a real tool to create some specific effect of desire. Eventually I recalled a type of advertisement that always amuses me: cologne. Whether it be oddly hyper masculine super bowl commercials or some forced sense of suave that men ry to capture in a cologne commercial, they always stand out to me as odd. The lighting always is toned to capture seem deep, undiscovered feeling of want for the person who is wearing the cologne, but personally it always has felt like it misses the mark and just ends up feeling sort of silly. However, it is still extremely clear that desire is the goal they are trying to accomplish with its dark tones and misty texture. Cologne advertisements therefore capture the strongest effort of sensual lighting and mood to attempt to reel new customers in, maybe it works for some, or maybe the lesson to be learned is that sometimes less is more when it comes to showing off your product!
