Autumn Sunset in Vermont –

Gels: R361, L201, R21, R008, R54

Gobo: Abelite 015

In my research as well as my personal experience, I believe the most beautiful sunsets in Vermont is those that stream through the trees. With this said, I added some trees into my light lab. In my research, most of the sunsets were a cool orange tone, with some soft hints of purple.

Spring Sunrise in a Gothic Cathedral –

Gels: R005, R356, R008, L201

Gobo: American Pro 1254

Based on my research, I wanted to play with having the feel of the sunrise, as well as having colors of the stained glass shine through. With this, I went with warm colors, as well as a very warm yellow for the gobo reflecting the pattern of the window.

Noon on a Summer Day in Hawaii –

Gels: R361, L201, L151, R064

Gobo: Brighter 17

In a lot of my research, the light present during noon on Hawaii was mostly cold, in contrast to how warm the colors present on the land. I wanted to get the blue of the sky, as well as water reflecting, and I added a slight gobo to signify light hitting the ground off the trees.

Winter Afternoon in Chicago –

Gels: L201, L151, R361

Gobos: Dots

In my research, there was a lot of cool tones of white, especially as much light reflected off snow. With this, I added a gobo to signify snow reflection off the ground, as well as ambient light in cool white. As it’s present in Chicago, there’s a lot of warm lights from the city, hence why I used a warm yellow to signify a streetlight streaming down.
