Sunset Post

  1. ATTRIBUTES: This is a sunset in Angkor Watt, Cambodia
  2. THEME: Sunrise/Sunset
  3. SUMMARY: The sun shines just over some trees and buildings. Its vibrant, warm, orange color makes the scene look almost like it’s glowing slightly, especially the sky. The reflection creates a mirrored image of the sky, but a little duller and a little less warm. The buildings and trees create a sharp contrast between the brightness and color of the sky and the water.

Photo Observation

photo:

1. DATE: 02/09/2022

2. TIME: 5:03PM

3. LOCATION: Taken at Brix Apartment Complex from the window of my friend’s apartment

4. THEME: Sunrise/ Sunset

5. SUMMARY: The sun in this photo is just setting over the trees, illuminating the sky with a bright yellow, with just a little bit of orange along the tree line. The blinds in front of the sunset is the focus of the photo which allows the light from the sunset to come in from the background. The blinds are reflecting the light slightly which to me creates a comforting or calming emotion, like when a room is lit only by the light from a sunset and fills the room with a golden glow.

Sunrise Post

  1. ATTRIBUTES: This photo was taken by Susan Ogan in Marblehead, Massachusetts on December 30, 2020.
  2. THEME: Sunrise/Sunset
  3. DESCRIPTION: The sun is barely visible as it has just begun rising. Its bright light pierces through the sky to create a gradient of colors. Further, there is a pillar like ray of light that is emitted of the sun that creates this feeling of movement or trajectory through the sky. I chose this sunrise because I like how even though you are not able to see the actual sun, you are able to see how its bright light affects the rest of the sky.

Lighting Observation #1

  1. Saturday, February 5th, 2022, 6:45 am
  2. Laying in bed waiting to fall back asleep while staring at my closet doors, which had the shadows of the swinging tree branches that was caused by either the sun rising or the street lamps.
  3. I was still half asleep because I woke up a couple of hours before I had planned to, and as I was laying there I noticed the shadows coming in through the window on my closet, looking like it could be a scene from a noir film. When I first saw them, it felt eery, like the beginning of a horror or suspense movie. However, as I kept observing them, it began to feel calming from the consistent swaying of the tree’s branches.

Sunrise Picture

  1. This is a photo of a sunrise I took looking out into the Atlantic Ocean from the 39th Street beach in Ocean City, Maryland at 6:21 am on July 22, 2021.
  2. Theme: Sunrise/Sunset
  3. The Sun appears to be a nice, small ball of white light surrounded by an orange aura. The surrounding orange reflects on the ocean’s surface, which makes it appear as if a line of fire is coming to greet you at the edge of the waves. There is also some nice “cloudage” in the sky, allowing for there to be a nice transition from the peach colored sky into the grayish-blue sky.

Sunset Post

This photo is a Daruma Sunset taken in Kochi Prefecture, Japan. The lights emitted from the sunset are a vibrant red and orange and give the effect that the sun is sitting upon the ocean. There is an almost smokiness to the way the light is scattered across the sky. This lucky sunset makes the rest of the sky brighter, turning it from a normal blue color to a dusty purple. The way the light reflects on the ocean makes the water shine and gives it a crystal-like effect.

Sunset Photo-Charlese

This is a sunset from liberia overlooking the beach. I chose this picture becuase it comes off as warm and inviting. Personally I’ve never been someone who took the time to apreciate sunsets. I still really don;t understand the appeal of looking at the sky for a lond period of time. However, I chose this one becuase I thought it was pretty and although I haven;t sentmuch time in Liberia, it is home to my parents.

Lighting Observation Eve Alas

  1. DATE: 02/06/22
  2. TIME: 7:25 am
  3. LOCATION: Hofstra Parking Lot Bill of Rights
  4. OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION:  The sun is definitely rising and it is early in the morning because the light is not too bright or  too dark. It gives a feeling of beginning since the light from the sun is a little lower than it is in the middle of the day. The blue in the sky is not too intense in color but rather soft and light. The combination of light blue and a little bit of light warm yellow/orange is what gives the sensation of warmth. One of the many amazing things in the landscape is how the light goes through the trees. The trees look like shadows, which is something we do not see to0 much in the summer. This type of lighting indicates the season we are in which in this case is winter. I am so in love with sunrises and it also reminds me of home, even though El Salvador is always 90 degrees nature is a big part of my country.
  5. SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was walking to my car and leaving for work and I felt extremely tired and as I looked to my right there was this big and beautiful light. It gave me a warm and motivational feeling because I was really sore and wanted to cry because my job is being a dance fitness trainer and I had to teach and work out but I was not feeling it that day. However, this beautiful landscape reminded me that I should feel blessed to be alive and get to live another day.

Lighting Observation #1

  1. 2/7 5:45pm
  2. The studio lighting of the dance class I was teaching.
  3. The overhead fluorescent lights were turned off, with just the small lightbulbs lining the mirrored front wall of the room turned on. Because it is winter, the sun had nearly been set, so minimal light comes in through the back wall of windows. The dancers I teach are improvising around the room, creating shadows as the approach different areas of the room. Those nearest the back wall are much less visible than those close to the mirror. Just as they dance with each other, they too appear to dance with the light.
