Photo Observation – Sunrise

  1. ATTRIBUTES: This photo was taken from the Bay View Resort’s (Myrtle Beach, SC) sunset.
  2. THEME: Sunrise/Sunset
  3. DESCRIPTION: I chose this sunset because I love the way the darkness near the bottom of the photo enhances and allows the bright colored sky to star in this image. The neon orange sun immediately draws the eyes and as the focus becomes wider, you are introduced to a haze of the bright colors. I also love the reflection of said colors on the water.

Title: “Sunset on Lake Owasco, July 2020” -taken by me

Theme: Sunset

A radiant golden ball drifts closer to the dark trees in the distance. As the sun begins to dip the rays water color the clouds lingering from an earlier storm. The dark waters are ominous but the warm colors from the sun ripple across the surface create a welcoming aura.

Light Observation #1

1) Monday, February 7th, 7:13 PM.

2) Sitting inside the back section of the Student Center, the lights on the ceiling provided soft lighting evenly to the entire room.

3) Even though it was likely due to the sun setting, it felt like the lights in the room were starting to get tired, as they seemed to turn dimmer as I finished my meal and started wrapping up my evening. The lights were inviting – the temperature and white noise in the room were just perfect enough to take a nap, and the lights lowered themselves to complete the atmosphere.

Sunset

1)

2) This is a photo of a sunset taken by Richard F Staples, Jr. and submitted to the “Light: Beyond the Bulb” image collection project by the Chandra X-ray Center at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

3) The photo theme is Sunrise/Sunset.

4) The photo depicts a pink and purple sunset, which Staples Jr. explains is a result of the sun’s distance from Earth. Since the sun is at a specific distance, the light is spread out in such a way that the blue and purple wavelengths of the light spectrum are visible. The colors in the image are also pleasingly symmetrical because of the ocean’s reflection of the sunlight.

Neighbors house windows

I live in a college neighborhood so many houses scream personality and kids living there. Behind my house four windows of my neighbors house are brightly lit different colors. One is red, one is blue, and 2 are purple. I wonder whats going on in each room and where i can get lights like that.

Squirrel sunbathing on neighbors roof

The sun shines brightly on a patch on my neighbors garage. A squirrel runs up to the top and plops themself down. The grey fur shimmers in the sun while their tail twitches.

4/26 5pm Walgreens

The overhead lights as I wait in line for a covid vaccine.

The artificial overhead lights that hang above me remind of high school. Where fluorescent followed you everywhere. The white tiles and walls create a super clean and empty atmosphere.

Sun through clouds

I don’t know why it is but sometimes sun shining through clouds makes you squint even more. The brightness and intensity of the sun is powerful while the breeze and clouds masks its warmth. When setting up a camera I realized this is great photo taking light.

Light used in Phaedra in Kaitlyn’s set

As apart of my 55 I assist Kaitlyn in and out of her Phaedra dresses. I am able to watch the show as if its live theatre. Two small bright lights illuminate her, and the backdrop. She is still in a quite gray and dark ambiance which fits.

A car’s headlights lighting the road

As I look outside I see a dark car parked across the street with its headlights on. They illuminate the road in front of it and you can the green of the grass on the sidewalk. A few kids play with their scooters in the light.
