Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 3/31/21- 2:00 pm

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was in the city with friends and we went to the legendary Bloomingdales.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: From wall to wall and floor to ceiling there is artificial light flooding any area within reach. Harsh and sharp, with vibrant colors to entice its shoppers as they pass. Each make up counter blending into the next with their metallic and black counters. Lipsticks, eyeshadows, purses all a part of a blurry, colorfully, precise vision.

Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 3/25/21- 8:00 pm

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was out at the tent near Hofstra USA with my friends all sitting at the table in front of me.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Inside a white fortress, we laugh and converse. The car headlights sweep back and forth across the tent’s folds. The lamp posts of parking lot provide a white glow that shrouds our faces in light and shadow. Smiles all around covered by the darkness and the cloth masks. Such a cool and windy night filled with such warmth.

Lighting observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: Last Thursday, late afternoon, at the Amityville Apothecary crystal shop.

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The sun was laying low and the rays were shining through the windows. The light hit some of the crystal that was hanging from the ceiling, and the light with crystals created a set of rainbows around the room.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Sometimes the perfect time of day is not the sunset, but is the hour before sunset; The golden hour. As I am walking into a magical crystal shop, the sun dim beams struck the crystals. The crystals carried the energy of the light and created an array of colors that light up the whole room. I have been to this shop before, but only in the early afternoon. This time I went was my favorite moment strictly because of the light. The glowy golden hue transforming from the magical crystals, creating a treasure at the end of the rainbow. The sun’s indirect light made the crystals sparkle and illuminated every curve and crack of the rocks. It was a sight to see and was honestly a great marketing day for the store.

Lighting Observation

  1. WHEN/WHERE: April 1, 2021: 7pm – my dorm room in Suffolk Hall.
  2. OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The overhead light is off. My roommate’s desk lamp is providing the most light. Her fairy lights are on and my lamp is on as well.
  3. SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Chaos. On one side of the room, it is warm and gentle. On the other, a blaring white void. There is a happy medium, but it is difficult to focus when there are bright stars everywhere that are not uniform.

Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: March 29th 2021, 6:14 PM, my dorm room.

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The sunlight bouncing off of my roommates makeup bag that is covered in silver sequins.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The sunlight bounces off of each sequin, casting tiny dots of light on the wall above the bag. The dots start out tiny and then get longer and more dim the further they move away from the bag. The small speckles of sunlight remind me of twinkling stars in the night sky. The silver makeup back reflects the sunlight in a way that makes it look like a mushed disco ball.

DATE-TIME-LOCATION:  Sometime around 11 pm on the Garden State Parkway on February 27th

OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The high beams of the pick-up truck on the opposite side of the highway

SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I am blinded. The white light pierces my retinas as I try to see on the parkway as I am driven home. I think headlights like that should be illegal.

Did You See the Full Blue Halloween Moon? - The New York Times

Theme: Romance

Description: The moon and stars lighting up the night sky and the clouds below. I see the moon as very sensual and romantic. I imagine a couple on a date walking the beach with just the moonlight.
