Photo Observation #5

THEME: Night Life

DESCRIPTION: This photo was taken November 24th, 2019 a little after 11pm at Snoh Aalegra’s concert in Webster Hall. I stood in line with my partner in the cold for four hours to be front and center for the concert, and it was extremely worth it for this view! The quality is drained from uploading it here, but the pictures I have of this concert are some of the most beautiful shots I’ve ever gotten. The lights in the concert were super appealing and added to each song she played. For this set, she was singing “I Want You Around,” which fits so well with the red lights.

Photo Observation

1: This is a photo of me sporting the latest fashion of traffic cones.
2: Theme: Night Life
3: To me, the night is the time when people do things outside thier comfort zone. We feel as though no one is watching and we can do as we please. Though some may argue that the night is a time of fear, for most it is the only free time in their day.

Light Observation

1: DATE/TIME/LOCATION: Thursday February 27th 2020, 5:57 pm, Outside Hofstra Dunkin Donuts

2: OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The clouds during sunset on a windy day

3: SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Yet again I am dazzled and surprised by the sheer beauty one can see if they only look up. The pink light of the sunset on the clouds turns thier undersides blue as they move quickly across the sky by the power of the tempest. I feel a sense of serenity.

Night Life

2) This is a picture of my dorm room wall

3) THEME: Night Life

4) DESCRIPTION: The light illuminates my room and gives a relaxed, calming feeling. It reminds me of the nights spent in my room laughing and having a great time with my friends. I make me feel more comfortable and calm sitting under these light rather than sitting under the Florissant lights built into the ceiling

Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: Thursday 27th, 1:15 pm WSC 2 classroom in the writing center

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: lighting coming from the only window as the movie was playing.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: As I sat in the darkroom, the light cascaded across the room onto some of my classmates. It is the only light coming into the room. I would keep catching my attention. The light was baby blue, reminding me of a sunset on a summer night.

Photo Observation

1) This photo is from a concert at the Jones Beach outdoor theater.

2) Night Life

3) The tickets for this concert were only $26, so my friends and I all bought tickets three hours before it and went. The concert had so many amazing artists and was fun regardless of the fact that we had nose bleed seats.

Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: Wednesday, 2/26 at around 5:30am in my room

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION:  It was still dark outside when I woke up.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: As I looked out of my east-facing window and rubbed my eyes, the sky was still dark. The streetlights near the Coliseum were orange and white, and seemed to mock me in my exhausted state.

Photo Observation

2) Night Life

3) Hearing a noise in the dead of night, they wander out into the backyard with a flashlight, searching for what could’ve made that rustling. Finally, the flashlight finds the source of the sound in the darkness; a tiny opossum.

Photo Observation

This photo was taken by me in the basement of the house I live in off-campus.

Theme: Single artificial light source

Description: A somewhat transparent bracelet is placed around a magenta pearl string light, the focal point of the photo being the thinner, and therefore more see through, portion of the bracelet that shows the word “believe.”

Lighting Observation 4

  1. Time – Date – Location: Around 1:00 PM 02/17/20, a dorm room at Fordham in the Bronx
  2. The open blinds allow the strong sunlight to fill most of the room with a warm glow, making any artificial light unnecessary.
  3. I was visitng my bets friend, and as we walked into her dorm room, the room just felt perfect because of the sunlight. She didn’t flip a switch for a lamp, and the area directly lit by the sun ended up being the spot on her floor where we sat and spent the entire afternoon. The sunlight oozed happiness and calm, which was just we were looking for as we just hung out with each other and her cat.
