1st Lighting Observation

  1. February 3rd, 2026 – 1:14 am – Cherry Lane living room
  2. Myself and one of my housemates were sitting in our living room late at night. We had a few different sets of fairy lights on, but no larger lamps or overhead lights, so the room was pretty dimly lit. There was a set of star shaped fairy lights on the wall and another set inside of our fire place, both set to a warm white light. There was a final set of fairy lights attached all around the perimeter of the ceiling set to an orange color.
  3. The overall mood was warm and comforting and cozy. With all three sets of lights being set to warm tones/colors and no larger lighting, the room was dim and somewhat sleepy/relaxing. Having my housemate and I in this lighting in a space we already consider home, sitting on our couches and with blankets, just made the vibe relaxed, cozy, and more loving. We could be talking about anything, but there would always be an undertone of comfort and support, just from the way the light was making the room a more “warm” space.

Lighting Observation #12

1.) May 11, 2025 – 1:05 pm – the student center back area by Freshens

2.) Sunlight streams through the student center windows coupled by the dim overhead lights of the room creates a bright glow.

3.) The lights are dim in the student center room. The majority of light comes from the overhead skylight omitting a warm glow as we work on our homework. The anticipation of summer looms over the laptops cramming for finals.

Final Lighting Observation

  • May 2nd, 2025 – Floral Terrace, Floral Park
  • The lights at a very nice and luxurious venue
  • It’s funny how some lights can make a place look very run down and impoverished and some lights make the place look expensive. These lights were very elegant, they were sharp and the color was designed to make the place look ready for a very special night. There a chandelier and other lights around the ceiling of the venue. Overall the lights were perfect for the night, not too bright and just colorful enough to make it ready for a celebration.

Lighting Observation #12 (final lighting observation)

1.) May 2, 2025 – 6:46 pm – the kitchen in the lounge of one of the dorm buildings

2.) The lights above the oven we were using to cook, mixed with the steam from the boiling water.

3.) The lights are dim yet warm throughout the room. The orangish glow feels comforting after a tiring day out in the sun. Above the oven glows a slightly brighter light, drawing my eyes to it. The steam from the boiling water below billows up like a faint, dusty cloud, making the rays of light that are emitting from above the oven almost visible. This haze feels like a soft blanket, a calming dull from the chaos of the rest of the day.

Final Lighting Observation

1. May 2, 2025, Student Health Services waiting room

2. florescent overhead lights in waiting room.

3. The florescent overhead lights in the this waiting room always ruin my day. The waiting room itself is extremely drab, everything in here being, black, brown, or beige, and with the florescent lights, it makes everything even more depressing. everything is covered in an off-white light. It’s almost a yellowish light. With how the lights are placed throughout the room there are barley any shadows under or around the objects around the room. if the lights were  more of a bright white, I would say that it would feel more cold and sterile, but it’s warm, literally and figuratively, it’s almost suffocating.

Final Lighting Observation

  1. On the quad, April 30th. 12:30pm
  2. Doing Pilates class outside in the blinding sun
  3. There was nowhere to look that wasn’t blanketed in a blinding sheet of sunlight. Lying on my back, it was impossible to open my eyes and the inside of my eyelids burned a glowing orange-red. The sun was directly overhead, so even looking downwards at the green grass made is appear distorted and hazy. The blue of the sky began to look washed out due to the intensity of the yellow sunlight surrounding it, and I looked away to protect my eyes.

Photo Observation 11

  1. Summer
  2. I took this in New Hope PA, two summers ago.
  3.  I chose this picture to represent summer due to the warm, nostalgic, and comforting feeling that it gives me. It also reminds me of the joy of being outdoors on a nice, warm summer day with the flowers blooming and the bright sun warming the ground beneath my feet.

Photo Observation 11#

I took this photo at 8 or 9 last summer

Theme: Summer

This photo speaks to me because you can just tell it’s summer while also seeing that it’s late. It doesn’t look that hot because of the cold mood. It looks dark and sad but you can kinda still see the sun. These pictures can only be taken during one season of the year, despite it being so late the sun still wants to be out.

Photo Observation

  1. Summer
  2. Old Orchard Beach, ME. I took this in the summer of 2024
  3. While the lighting in this picture isn’t excessively summer, it still represents summer. It’s obvious from the nightlife and the neon lights of the amusement park that it is late, and yet the sky is still somewhat lit. This lighting indicates that it is summer, since the sun doesn’t set until around 8:00 during this time of year. In addition, the faint glow of the sun going down underneath the horizon is also an indicator of the time of year and it gives off summer vibes.

Photo observation

3) THEME:Summer

4) DESCRIPTION: This photo encapsulates the end of a beautiful summer day. During the summer, rain storms are short, and the sun sets late in the day, so when the perfect storm happens, a rainbow appears. While clouds are still blanketing the Earth, you can see the rays of light that are reflecting, coming out of the double rainbow. It’s almost like a tunnel, with no seeming end.
