1)  1/29/26- 4:48pm

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: light pouring through an window onto a white wall. The sun is setting and painting the normally white wall in shades of yellow. The light reflects off the initial wall spreading to the connecting wall and ceiling.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: the yellows warm the entire room making the space feel warmer than it was. It feels hopeful, like the sun is shining in the room just for your viewing. The once poorly lit room is bathed in gold light, and everything suddenly looks as if seen through a filter.

4th Lighting Observation – Mia Gozinsky

  1. February 26th, 2026 – 6:48 Pm – In my Composition Class
  2. The lights in the classroom… on, the screen plastered on the whiteboard… On, and the computers… ALL ON! But once I look outside, I see that there are two lamps outside, and the light from them is cutting the darkness outside in half like a knife.
  3. The look of all this is absolutely haunting. It’s giving the feel of a Tim Burton movie, with the cold February breeze and the lamps being mysteriously on, kinda mirroring one another, making me feel a sense of peace and relaxation from a very tiring Thursday.

Light Observation #3

  1. 2/21/2026 Outside Roosevelt Field Mall
  2. Sitting on the curb outside the mall with a friend, two boba teas, and a Neopets plushie from a collab with the tea place. The plushie sits on the curb, a blue Shoyru to match the blue tea. The sunlight is soft, clouds obstructing direct light in most places. Every so often, the sun will come through and brighten up the surrounding area, making the plushie and drink more vibrant for a minute before the colors go back to muted
  3. The change in the sunlight gave a really intriguing contrast between a cold grey day and a sunny afternoon. I feel much colder looking at my tea and plushie while the sun isn’t out. It’s an almost somber feel despite my excitement in the moment. Then the sun comes out and it’s all washed away. It’s a good day with one of my best friends and all around good experience. These two feelings came and went with the movement of the clouds, creating an interesting dichotomy between light levels

Photo Observation #3

11/28/2024 In the Colorado Mountains

Cold

I took this picture from my aunt’s backyard in Colorado, it was the second state i’ve ever been to since leaving Texas so the surreal feel of the mountains and forest was overwhelming. Obviously the snow on the mountains gives cold but mostly the desaturation of the whole image in comparison to the blue sky is what gave me the vibes of cold. The sunlight isn’t overly aggressive on the trees or mountain, giving them a calm feel that is further emphasized by the amount of the sky visible in the picture. Looking at this picture reminds me of the brisk air up in the mountains and the chill that laid over the whole place.

Photo Observation #3

2)I took this photo on 4/26/24 in Paris

3) Cold

4) This photo is lit by weak sun rays coming through an overcast sky in France. This gives the impression of an early morning chill. The gray/blue tone that most of the image is covered by adds a cold feeling to what could easily be a warm day later on under more sun as it is mid-spring here. It definitely looks like this is before sunrise or it is about to rain based on how little sun is shining. The. water in the photo also reflects the muted sky, which makes it look even colder, whereas when we see water in bring sun, it might be warm enough to swim in.

February 20 – 5:39 pm – Emily Lowe rm. 216

Theme – Cold

This was a photo I took while getting some work done in 216. The overall lighting of this photo has a cool blue tint. The sky is pale blue and it feels icy. There’s not much golden/warm lighting in this photo. The lighting of the sky emphasizes the bare tree branches, which look skeletal and it gives the feeling of cold air.

2) Theme: Cold

3) This picture was taken at my cousin’s wedding. I’m not exactly sure why, but the sun in this photo looks more like cold light in this photo, which is unusual. Most of the photos I took in Cabo have the sun in this cold light, but this is the photo which best exemplified how the color temperature of the sun is colder.

  2. Theme – Cold
  3. This scene has always been one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies. I used to imagine myself in this scene whenever I would play in the cold and snow as a kid. Now upon watching again, I can see that low, blue, dim lighting lends itself to a feeling of frigid coldness in the scene. As Harry moves through the woods, one almost shiver with him. The temperature of the blue colors cast over the whole sequence creates the evident mood of a brisk, dense, coldness.

2. Cold

3. I took this picture at my friend’s bar mitzvah. There were black lights all around. I remember the room actually being quite warm, but the lighting in this image gives “cold” to me. I had one of those book fair spy pens on me and decided to draw on my hand. The doodles glowing against the darker background look almost like swirls of ice or snow.

Photo Observation 3 – Stanley Morgan

1) 2/24/26 – Netherlands Unispan, 9:55 PM

2) Theme: Cold

3) I chose this image due to the cold, manufactured, and almost subliminal lighting that takes over the space. Especially late at night, surrounded in the darkness, the lighting in the unispan makes you feel tense and on-edge. I took this lighting not to be cold as in temperature, but in feeling. The lighting in this space feels cold and detached, as it’s manufactured to make you feel like you’re not supposed to be there.
