03/01 Light Observation

Rych standing in the front of the class.

During class on a sunny day the light comes through the window so nicely that the whiteboard reflects the light and Rych almost looks like he is glowing. It’s an interesting contrast to a cloudy day when it’s mostly shadows against the white board.

02/23 Light Observation

The dim lights backstage.

When working backstage the yellow/ white lights are placed perfectly where they are needed in order to be helpful. But they also withhold light just enough that anyone else walking backstage ends up with a silhouette. Watching the actors and run crew walk backstage and seeing the way they move within the confines of the lights and seeing the different shadows cast at different angles is really cool.

02/ 29 Photo Theme- Nightlife

This was taken outside of Kings Theatre just after a concert. I loved the colors of the lights looked reflecting off of the building and the trees around it. The different colors also compliment each other very nicely

Photo Observation 2/29 Night Life

Via Pinterest

Continuing my theme of trying to find the loophole or the less obvious interpretation of the prompt, I was drawn to the life found at night when one isn’t looking for it. Perhaps on the walk home from a friend’s, what would you see that captivate’s you. Neon signs on a closed store always presented a fun juxtaposition. I also love the color used in this photo.

Photo Observation 2/29

Obtained from Pinterest

I’m from Maryland so I grew up seeing these lights many nights. I like this image a lot for a few reasons. The most obvious is the reflection of the lights on the water. I also love the way you can see the state house illuminated by blue light below and standing out against the brighter yellows from the busy section of town.

Photo Observation 2/29

Picture taken by me

I took this picture at a Delaney Bailey concert in the city last semester. We were very close to her, and it was a very intimate venue, so the darker lighting really added to the energy. The dark and vibrant lighting helped to draw attention to the focal point on stage and eliminated the background distractions. The lighting here made me think of the nightlife theme because it reminded me of club/party lighting, although it was at a casual concert. The vibrant red and purple lights added to the fun, playful environment.

Night Life Photo Observation

This is a photo I took on February 13th at a concert at The Paramount. Something about the color purple just always reminds me of “night life”, and even if a photo is taken during the day but has hints of purple lighting, it very much signifies night time for me. The dark shadows on the saxophone player also create a feeling that it is night time.

Photo Observation 2/28

Photo from pinterest. I like this image as it illustrates the more secluded and intimate with only one warm light. It gives a sense of reality of “night life” being a moment of comfort and unwinding from the day.

Photo Observation 2/29

This photo was taken by me at a club called Somewhere Nowhere. This is my favorite club because you get to see the beautiful skyline, and there is a lot of disco balls and other lighting aspects that create cool lighting concepts around the entirety of the room.

Photo Observation 2/29

Photo taken by me

This is a picture I took this past December when I went to see the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. This picture is a good representation of what I like to do when I partake in nightlife. Although it is dark out, the bright lights of Radio City and the skyscrapers around it light up the night, and the streets are still bustling with people. NYC is called the city that never sleeps, and the juxtaposition of the dark sky and the bright lights accurately portrays this nickname.
