Photo Observation #10

  1. My photo during my dog Tink
  2. Summer
  3. Summer to me means warmth, happiness, and sun. Last summer while I was home in Maryland, I saw my dog looking off of our patio to watch me coming home. She had been outside waiting for about 2 hours so she felt really warm. The sun was starting its setting phase making the sun shine right into her eyes. The deck was covering her face just enough where half of her face is lit wile the other is darker. She also reminds me of peace and happiness (which also reminds me of summer). I can’t wait to see her in the next few weeks.

Photo Observation #11

1.) a photo my friend took of me on Lake Winnipesaukee last summer

2.) Summer

3.) The photo is overall pretty brightly lit. It feels light and quite vibrant, which are words that also come to mind when describing summer. The light from the bright blue sky also reflects off of the water, making the photo feel even lighter. The light shining on my hair and shoulders is also very, very warm, giving the image that sunset golden hour feel which is unique to summer. This vibrant warmth in the forefront of the photo, mixed with the bright and clear, light blue sky and water in the background gives this photo a very specific summer vibe.

Lighting Observation #11

1.) April 27, 2025 – 8:32 pm – a train station somewhere on the route of the LIRR

2.) A couple sitting together on a bench against a white, concrete wall. There is an overhang above them and they are illuminated solely by the light hanging from it.

3.) The dark night sky cools the air from the hot, late-spring day that is ending. A couple huddles together on a bench, looking out at the train tracks. Above them hangs a singular light, just like the rest of the lights that stretch along the length of the station. The light glows a warm, almost pinkish color, making the vast space feel more cozy and safe. As my train starts to move again, the intimate image gets smaller and smaller, until all I can see is the faint silhouette of the couple against the dusty pink light.

Lighting Obsevation #11

  1. 4/28/25 at 18:00
  2. The sun is shining through my window
  3. I watch as the sunshine continuously fades as time passes, yet it’s still so bright outside. As I open the window, hoping to bring my room. to a colder temperature, I realize that it’s still warm outside, not helping the issue of the heat. Hoping to help with this issue, I turn the AC on high, only to find out that it’s room temperature. My Disappointment Is Immeasurable | Creative Bits

Lighting Observation #12

  1. 4/28/25 at 2:38PM
  2. The big dance studio in the communications building has natural light entering the windows and it shines down hitting the windows and floors
  3. Natural light pours into the large dance studio in the Communications Building, streaming through the windows and casting soft beams across the floor. Outside, the windows frame a bright blue sky and trees full of vibrant green leaves. A single, brilliant patch of sunlight lands on the floor, creating a glowing focal point in the space

Final Photo Observation

  1. August 4th, 2024 at 8:15PM – Primehook Delaware
  2. Theme: Summer
  3. Last summer, I visited Primehook, Delaware. I loved seeing the beautiful sunsets everyday. I loved how the sun remained a bright pale yellow as it dipped toward the horizon, unobstructed by any clouds. As it sank lower, the sky gradually shifted into a vibrant blend of pink and orange before deepening into a rich, dark blue. The water reflected the blue and pink, making the water and sky look like one continuous picture.

Lighting Observation #12

  1. Saturday, April 26th 2025 at 5:58PM–looking directly at Jason’s Delicatessen on the corner of Polk Avenue and Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead.
  2. This lighting moment came after a period of intense rain, resulting in sopping wet streets. Even after the rain had stopped, the skies were still covered in dark grey clouds. The sun was nearing the end of its cycle for the day and somehow managed to peek out through the clouds, which created strange Magritte-esque lighting so that the buildings facing West were radiant yellow amidst a background of overcast clouds.
  3. The air held onto a strange, surrealist feeling as there was no harmony found between its two siblings, sun and sky. The Earth had been rampaging through intermittent downpours, and at this particular moment found itself quiet and resting in drenched content. The sky held onto residual resentment, the clouds stagnant in a dark grey blanket, at first stifling the soft amber light that so desperately wanted to poke through. Eventually, the Western gloom had been clawed through, the sun emitting a halo of gold which the houses and trees baked under. A whisper of grief could still be felt at their backs, as their glistening fronts remained in the frame of desolate clouds.

Photo Observation #9

  1. January 14th, 2024 at 1:30PM–random bus stop in Santorini, Greece.
  2. Theme: Summer
  3. Although it is an hour and a half past noon, the sun still holds a tight grip over the rest of the sky; the clouds are nowhere to be found in the midst of its triumph. The sultry white sheen that envelopes Earth’s subjects is apparent across its diverse landscape. Stray Dog is often prone to this phenomenon, unshielded and wandering in most of its free time. Still, he finds strange comfort in having a seat at the bus stop while the sun glistens on his fur, emitting a golden-brown shine. The metal pole that Stray Dog settles by stands strong amid the sweltering gleam, throwing back hot, silvery punches in competition.

Virtual Light Lab Project

  1. Fall sunset in New England- What i imagined was a warm evening, the last couple days of warm weather in October before everything gets really cold.   Light 1 – Sidelight Full Ro13, Light 2 – Center 90 degrees, R000, Light 3 side light Full Ro13, Light 4 center 70 degrees 50% Ro22, Light 5 center 50 degrees 50%, Light 6 center, 20 degrees full R068.

2. Spring sunrise in a Gothic Cathedral –

when I think of gothic cathedral I think of scary,Batman like scenary. Like Gotham city! Light 1 30 degrees sharp focus full R364, Light 3 R316 Soft focus, 90 degrees.

3. Noon on a hot Summer day in the Caribbean

I imagined a beach where the sun is shining so bright and blazing. The blue is supposed to represent the sky. It looks like sunset but the yellow is representing the power of the sun hence the glow around it. Light 1 side light sharp focus full light Ro18 26 degrees. Light 2 center light soft focus 90 degrees Ro65. Light 3 side light soft focus Ro26 19 degrees.

4. Winter afternoon in Canada

Similar to the last one I envisioned the sun being bright. However, in the winter during snow days the sun is so bright but it feels more white than orange. The sky is also grey which is what I was aiming for. Light 1 side light 26 degrees soft focus full light R017. Light 2 side light 26 degrees sharp focus full light R364. Light 3 center light R364 soft focus 90 degrees full light.

Lighting Observation #11

  1. 4/24/2025 – Verdis Westbury
  2. The lights in our room for formal.
  3. The lights are a calm color once everyone walks in. Not bright as to scare us away, but very calm and mellow. It’s light blue, but it illuminates everything. The lights stretch out through the entire room, covering every corner of the ceiling. The lights are calling to me as if they were saying to relax and enjoy the night.
