St. Patrick’s Day Picture

  1. I found this on google images
  2. Theme: St. Patrick’s Day
  3. I chose this picture partially because of the color and partially because of the juxtaposition between the light and the surrounding area. I also like how the green of the light is so much brighter than everything else. There’s no other light at all in the picture, so it’s really clear what the focus of the image is

Photo Observation

  1. Attributes: https://www.discovernepa.com/calendar/scranton-st-patricks-parade/
  2. Theme: St. Patrick’s Day
  3. Description: I chose this photo because it perfectly captures the true spirit of St. Patrick’s day. I love the sense of community presented as The Society of Irish Women walk down the streets of the parade all adorned in a bright green color. While the white light emanating from the sun does not necessarily provide a warm glow, the white color still gives life to the fun day ahead.

Lighting Observation

  1. DATE/TIME/LOCATION: 3/16/22 10:06pm Library 2nd floor
  2. OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Sitting by the windows doing homework and I can see my reflection in the dark windows but I can also see the cars driving by on the road outside.
  3. SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I like how I can sort of see outside through my reflection. It feels like a main character movie scene where there would be something being described about the character over top. I like the contrast of the brighter light inside the library against the pitch black sky outside. I like that the headlights speeding by outside almost relate to the fluorescent lights inside the library. It feels eerie and ghostly, as if I’m overseeing what’s going on outside instead of actually experiencing it, or perhaps I’m just sleep deprived.

Lighting Photo

Attributes: From CNN website, taken by Sarto Roberto
Theme: St. Patrick’s Day
Description: Italy’s Leaning Tower of Pisa was lit green on Monday March 16th 2015 for St. Patty’s Day. I like how the light is hitting this building from below. I thought this was interesting and unique because when I’m watching things onstage I’m not normally seeing things being lit from bottom to top. I also really like the contrast of the bright green against the rest of the dark night.
The light in my photo is in the front so I assumed then the lighting instrument would be close to the ground directly in front of the building at some type of upward angle.

St. Patrick’s Day Picture

  1. I found this picture through Google, by searching “st. patricks day rainbow”
  2. Theme: St. Patrick’s Day
  3. The Sun is giving a nice front light that allows there to be a contrast between the green plant life and the grey clouds. Also, because of the way the Sun is shining, the vibrant colors from the rainbow provide nice unity, or a meeting ground for the clouds and greenery.

St Patrick’s Day

ATTRIBUTES : This photo was taken by Josephine McCarthy on March 17, 2021.

THEME : St Patrick’s Day

DESCRIPTION : I chose this photo first and foremost for the color. I love how the green is a beacon of focus in an otherwise dark landscape. I also enjoy how the green has an almost electric presence against the dull blue. The angle of the light is also extremely interesting to me. The upward angle creates a foreboding, almost mischievous mood which well reflects the shenanigans that many get into on St Patrick’s Day.

St. Patrick’s Day

Photo from Twitter of Glasnevin Cemetery

Description: This photo shows vibrant green plastered on a tower in a cemetery. This is one of many buildings/monuments across the world that gets lit up for St. Patrick’s Day. It shows unity, pride, and support in Ireland and other countries, and also allows those who have passed to participate and honors their memory.

St. Patrick’s Day

1)

2) ATTRIBUTE: From Google Images

3) THEME: St. Patrick’s Day

4) DESCRIPTION: The light from the rainbow gets swallowed by the trees encouraging the viewer to be curious and look inside. It could lead to a pot of gold, and the feeling of being lucky enough to find treasure in broad daylight resembles St. Patrick’s Day.

Lighting Observation #6

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 3/15/22, 10:21 PM, in my dorm

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I adjusted my desk lamp.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: While I normally have my desk lamp facing away from my work so the light bounces off of the wall, I noticed that the light was too dim and I could not see what I was doing. As soon as I turned the lamp, my peripheral vision was blinded by its light, but my homework was fully illuminated.

Photo Observation- St. Patrick’s Day

  1. St Patrick’s Day, Google Images
  2. I felt this photo was a good representation of lighting for St. Patrick’s Day because not only was it taken in an Irish pub, but there is also a green hue on all of the faces of the patrons. The atmosphere is lively and warm while also delineating that fact that it is night time outside. The light strips behind and to the side of the people at the tables reflects off of the ceiling and the glassware on the bar. There is a white light source directly in front of the people nearest the camera which makes them more easily visible than the people behind them.
