Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 3/4/21- 10:55 am

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Walking in front of the Adams Playhouse on my way to Emily Lowe Hall.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The sun is fighting its way through the clouds in order to peek out and brighten the ground below. Wind blows the clouds but it is not enough to reveal the sun. While the sky remains a milky white with splotches of gray, the squirrels jump amongst the trees. The birds sing back and forth, anticipating the coming of spring. Some how their chirping illuminates the morning’s gloom.

Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: March 4th 2021, 7:43PM, RSR booth in Estabrook Hall.

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The large outside lamp on the side of the building. Located directly outside of the RSR booth.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The light itself is huge and has a rather gothic looking base. Despite the size of the lamp, the light that it emits is extremely dim. The warped glass causes the light to appear blurred or fuzzy. The light emitted from the bulb is a soft white/yellow light. The light serves as a beacon to lead tired college students home; a welcoming and calming light to encourage those who enter to relax and make themselves at home.

Photo Observation 4

This Photo was taken by me in November of 2018 on Oak Street

Theme: Night Life

Description: There is rain on the ground and fog in the air, the streetlights all look like floating orbs. The wet ground reflects all of the lights in the sky.

2) This photo was taken by me in Philly last summer. I was trying a Philly cheesesteak for the first time.

3) THEME: Night life

4) DESCRIPTION: One of the greatest things about the night is the light that illuminates the sky. The second best thing is getting food late at night. I don’t think I would be as appetized for a cheesesteak in the daytime, then to see these lights and absorb the whole experience. The lights surrounding Geno’s sign give off the vibe of endless nights, fun adventures, and trying new foods.

I love the use of the bright blue/white light bulbs above. The buildings give of multicolor glow. You can see a soft glow on people’s faces but not too bright. I love the magenta and blue mix, with a hint of orange. The buldings seem to go on forever and the street lit by these bulbs never ends.

2) ATTRIBUTES: This photo was taken by me at the Secaucus Junction train station on December 26 2020 at 7:42PM.

3) THEME: Night Life

4) DESCRIPTION: The photo showcases the city that never sleeps at night. The small twinkling lights of the city almost resemble stars against the inky black sky. The desolate parking lot with aggressive fluorescent lights mirrors the dark desolate sky. The absence of light creates ominous shadows. The slight light in the sky illuminates the clouds still present in the sky.

Photo Observation- Nightlife

ATTRIBUTION: Unknown. From Google

THEME: Nightlife

DESCRIPTION: The moon rises in the distance as the buildings erupt with light or descend into darkness as the bright lights of the windows cease to function after a long day. the headlights and taillights of the individual cars start blending together to form one continuous train as if the light comes and goes from the same place. The stand-alone objects fade into the busy-ness of the streets and there is no distinction of the solo versus the conjoined

Photo Observation: Night Life

1)

2) This photo is from a family vacation to Turks and Caicos, taken by me. It was late at night, sometime after dinner.

3) THEME: Night Life

4) DESCRIPTION: When people think of night life, they think of partying, bright lights in dark rooms and a fun time. However, on most nights, life is pretty still. The moon was so bright this night, that the ocean reflected it and my 2017 phone granulated it, illuminating the image. If I could spend every night at the beach I would. This is the night life I want, especially in these times.
