Photo Observation- Night Life

2) Attribute the Photo, tell us where it came from.

This is a photo my friend took of me last September (2019) in Times Square.

3) THEME: Night Life

4) DESCRIPTION:

Neon screens light up faces of the bustling crowds. Each passerby’s face a different color as it reflects big letters and vibrant colors. Silhouettes of bodies and a flashing of cameras set the scene for an exciting night. Surrounded by strangers but alive with the air of a noteworthy night.

Photo Observation

  1. ATTRIBUTION: Photo taken by me on December 13th, 2019 at Rockefeller Center.
  2. THEME: Night Life
  3. Despite the lack of sunshine, a vibrant rainbow illuminates the night sky. This iconic tree doesn’t seem to have any branches at all, and looks completely made out of  lights. This rainbow is not a cleancut arc with defined lines, but rather a child’s abstract painting with colors spilling over everywhere. It is in constant motion with a balance of harmony and chaos. There’s a reason why New York is “the city that never sleeps.”

Lighting Observation 2/26

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: Hempstead Turnpike, 2/24/2021, around 12 pm

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The sun is brightest this time during the day and the snow makes its glow that much more intense. I was driving and as soon as I turned the corner I was blinded by the reflected sun.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Such a beautiful sight can be dangerous. The sun supports life, illuminating all of the world’s beauties, but it can be as frightening as it is enticing. The fear that comes with blinding light-no matter how long-is enough to take your breath away. The sheer juxtaposition of something so beautiful making you uncomfortable is unfathomable in itself. Light can make your heart flutter before it makes it drop.

Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 2/21/21- 5:00 pm

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: In the middle of the unispan the cars were passing by during rush hour and the sun was setting.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The sun is setting but the real stars of this show are the electric pink skies. They appear to be weighed down by darker air above them causing the strip of pink to contrast deeply against the purple clouds. The silhouette of each car, person, tree, and piece of infrastructure makes this scene feel like a moment frozen in time.

Lighting Observation

  1. WHEN/WHERE: February 22, 2021, 5:35pm; My first-floor bedroom window in Suffolk Hall
  2. OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: It is completely overcast, but the sky is glowing pink, along with some blue in the distance.
  3. SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: As I sit on my bed, I notice a pink glow coming through my window. The sky has gone from a blank white to a blooming rose. Its petals rain down and make the whole world pink. Beyond the leafless trees is a patch of blue, creating a beautiful gradient. Who knew that a completely cloudy day could have so much color?

Lighting Observation

  1.  The sky on my street, this past Wednesday, Mid-morning
  2. The light sky was surrounding everything. I noticed the light just walking outside.
  3.  There is something about finally seeing the sun and the sky after days of snowstorms and murky weather. The sky revealed everything that was once being covered by gloominess and dirty snow. The sky was so bright that I instantly felt the exposure of the earth, the things around me, and the atmosphere. The light sky gave a sense of openness. Nothing hovering over me, nothing pulling me down. All there was an open ceiling covered in warm and blue lightness. I felt like I could fly

Lighting Observation

DATE-TIME-LOCATION:  February 20th, the Hofstra Library at 5:23 pm

OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The sun setting in the distance giving the faintest outline of the cities skyline.

SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The setting sun in the distance caught my eye as I was studying in the library. I wanted to see more so I stood on the radiator peering over the top window I hoped that PSafe was nowhere nearby. The city outlined by the bright oranges of the leaving sun made me smile. I sat back down to finish my work as the sky went dark.

Photo Observation 3

This photo was taken by me on Thursday, February 18, at 10am

Theme : Cold

I chose this picture because it was from the first time I took my puppy, Toby, out while it was snowing. The ground is covered in snow while it is still falling. The puppy’s nose also has snow on it as he was digging his face into the snow.

Photo observation

2) This photo was taken by me in Leeds, Utah, near Zion. This was a tent or “glamp” I was staying in located at a RV park.

3) THEME: Cold

4) DESCRIPTION: Although the inside was warm, the focus is on the night sky and the cold feeling I get when I look at this tent. Literally the weather was about 15 degrees, but when I naturally see the tent, I am reminded of what the tent is supposed to do, block the cold air. The flickering lights give the sense of winter and the photo tells holds a place of trying to stay warm with a good night’s rest for a hicking adventure the next day. I chose this photo because this is a good feeling of cold. It’s a fun suffer from the chills because it’s part of the hiking journey.
