Lighting Observation

DATE/TIME/LOCATION: 3/11/2020, 3:30 pm, outside Netherlands Unispan

OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The sunlight through the branches of a pink tree

SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The light underneath a tree is framed pink as I walk underneath it. It arouses feelings of the lust for the warmth of spring, and the cool afternoons shared by families in their porches.

  1. Theme – Desire
  2. Description – I think that this pulls focus on beauty in specific standards. The idea that if you use this predicted, you would be flawless like this witch in most cases is unrealistic.

2) Theme – Advertisement/desire
3) The creativity of the ad absolutely makes one want to either do more research into what it is advertising, or in this case, watch the show that it’s advertising

  2. Theme – Advertisement/Desire
  3. This ad is a parody, not a real advertisement. The harshness of the white light and the way it clouds the face in shadow create an incredibly dramatic effect. This effect has been maximized to make the desired dramatics ironic and comical, and it works.

Photo Observation #6

1) Original photo taken in my basement. Photo of the photo taking through a piece of looking glass. Fall Fall 2019

2) THEME: Advertisement/Desire

3) DESCRIPTION: Look at this damn orange. How could you not want to buy this orange. It is perfectly lit like an actress in a 1930s Hollywood flick. Pores? Never heard of em. It has the glowing halo of an angel sent directly from god. And the framing? The FRAMING!?! Sheesh. The circle points your eye where to look and the line underneath the orange gives it a cementing permanence. You think to yourself “wow that is a strong independent orange. I bet that orange voted in the primaries”. Your mouth is watering, you think to yourself “where can I buy an orange”.
