Photo Observation #1

I took this photo on the beach before work in Ocean City, New Jersey on July 12, 2019 at 5:27 AM
THEME: Sunrise/Sunset
DESCRIPTION: The orange light of the sun and the warm gradients of the sky transform how the beach typically looks. The sand (which during the day is a pale beige) is a deeper, cooler color. It looks cool to the touch. The ocean at the height of the day is blue, or greenish, depending, yet here it reflects golden and lilac hues. I’ve grown up here my whole life, so I’ve always taken the ocean for granted. It wasn’t until I went to school up here and was separated from the place that I loved so much that I really appreciated the beauty of my home. Sometimes, when I’m in my little ice cream stand where I work my summer job, I look out at the ocean and see the way the light sparkles off of it and I remember that I love my hometown, even if I moved away from it.

4. A sunrise is one of the most spectacular things a person can lay eyes on. However, as I’m waking up this is the last thing I want to see. As my eyes got adjusted to the pitch blackness from sleeping, I become startled when a radiant beam of yellow and white blind me with a great ray of intensity. As it peeks out the window it fills my room with blaring reds, oranges, yellows and whites that tells me it’s time to wake up. Ironically enough, this beautiful spectacle of light is something I could never look forward to seeing.
