Shadows

2) The Photo is one that I found on the internet when looking for photos of shadows

3) THEME: Shadow

4) I think that it’s exciting that as the day goes on, shadows can grow and move. In my opinion, I never really think about the sun hitting me until I look at my shadow.

Light Observation #2

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: Wednesday night, in my bedroom. Hempstead, NY.

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I have been trapped in my room for the past three days with Influenza B. The weather has been gloomy and my room has been kept dark. There is an automatic sensor outside of my bedroom window that sometimes becomes triggered on its own. The light reflects into my room and creates shadows on several inanimate objects in my bedroom.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Sometimes the light reflecting on objects in my room forces me to think that the objects are something else. Sometimes at 4AM I will find myself questioning whether the shadow in the corner of my room is a ghost watching me or a stack of clothes that I probably should’ve washed two weeks ago. Light can make things deceiving.

Photo Observation #2

1) Photo taken by Patrice Yeboah, Chandler, AZ, 01/04/2020

2) Shadow

3) DESCRIPTION: This photo was taken on the warmest day of my winter break in Arizona. It wasn’t extremely hot, but 75 was still satisfying after leaving the cold New York weather. I went out into my backyard to take in the beautiful new landscape that I could now call home. The picture depicts the shadows of the beautiful palm trees in my backyard. The sun beams are glowing at the top of the photo and the water looks refreshing. The picture is aesthetically pleasing.

Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: Outside of Estabrook Hall around 6:00PM, 2/6/2020

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Yellow/orange light positioned along the outside wall of the building.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was walking toward my dorm building when I spotted this very moody lamp mounted on the side of Estabrook Hall. It gave off a lazy, very dim, orange glow. It’s soft rays obviously struggling to illuminate the ground roughly ten feet below. The light could have been missed entirely had it not been drizzling slightly; the dancing specs of rain reflected the lamp’s glow as they haphazardly searched for a destination to land. At the same time, the quiet mist could have gone without being noticed had it not been for the little glow of its friend: the orange light. I walked by as they danced their little dance.

Photo Observation

1) Photo taken by me, San Antonio, TX, 2/11/2020

2) Shadow

3) DESCRIPTION: This photo was a taken on a pleasant January night. My family and I had just finished a meal and we decided to take a walk of the surrounding downtown area. We ended up in front of San Fernando Cathedral. The four of us stood in the courtyard in awe of the 300 year old structure. There is no doubt that the architecture of the church is agreeable to the eye, but you must admit that the lighting is doing some pretty hefty lifting in this photo. The shadows created by the artful and sparsely placed lighting paint a ridiculously dramatic sight. The absence of light in certain areas of the facade create such deep shadows that make it seem as though the cathedral is being reclaimed by the dismal night sky.

Light Observation #2

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: Thursday Midnight My driveway

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was coming back from a 7/11 snack run with my friend. It was raining. When we got home the outside automatic light turned on and projected the shapes of the water droplets on to their face.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Water being transparent does many unique things when light is shown through it. Projected on to the human skin it’s like seeing light acting as shadow. Quite surreal, it felt as if reality had morphed with fantasy.

Photo Observation #2

1.) A basement 2018

2.) Theme: shadow

3.) The first two layers of depth in this photo are the characters in the foreground and the bed sheet. The shadows on the bedsheet imply a third layer of depth. Due to the distance between the objects it looks like you are looking at a college of all three planes layered on top of each other.  It creates a bit of an optical illusion and for one reason or another reminds me of a Brother’s Grimm Fairy Tale.

Light Observation #2

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: I had my lighting “moment” on February 2nd at 4:18. I was driving down a long open near my house in Huntington NY.

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The sun was beginning to set as I was driving on a long open road. There is nothing but farm land on each side, and while driving along the road all the sky appears so large as if the road and fields never end. The sky lit up from a light rose pink to orange to blue at the top, creating a chilly golden glow.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: This moment felt infinite, as if I could drive forever and the road wouldn’t end until I drove right into the sun. The lighting of the sky felt peaceful, and wholesome, as if it was trying to send a message to everyone driving to stop moving through life so fast, and just take in the beauty of the present moment before you.

Photo Observation #2

A photo of me taken by my friend Marty Keating (@mkproductions) on January 6th 2018, for a photography project.

THEME: Shadow

DESCRIPTION: The shadows presented in this photo, create a depth and sharpness to the image. The shadow outlines not only the presented dance position, but also the fine details of bone structure and definition. From the shadow it is clear that there is scoliosis of the spine, creating the idea that if one has enough passion and dedication for something, they can defy against the odds and go after it despite a physical, mental, or emotional obstacle.

Light Observation

DATE, TIME, LOCATION: 2/3/2020, 8:53 am, The grass and tree area outside bits and bytes.

OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The morning fog and the sunlight shining through the gaps in the tree branches

SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: As I entered the courtyard like any other day, the gently viel of fog lays upon the air like a blanket of gentle mist in the brisk morning air. The genlte yellow rays of the sun glisten through the air-suspended dew, reaching towards me through the outstreached arms of the Birch trees like the gentle caress of a loved one.
